Payson - Recreation
The Rim Country offers just about any activity an outdoor lover could want. Some of the more popular outdoor activities include hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, mountain biking and cycling. During the
summer weekends, many campgrounds in the National Forest are often filled by Thursday evening, and the population of Payson explodes to 1.5 times its normal number. For the people who don't like camping,
there are areas within the National Forest that offer summer cabin living. And for the weekender, there are cabins that can be rented - but don't wait until the last minute - these cabins fill up
quickly. For the person who doesn't like "roughing it," the motels in the area offer accommodations.

Festivals in Payson, Pine and Strawberry
Payson and the Pine-Strawberry area offer many festivals during the summer season, some of them known across Arizona and beyond. And Green Valley Park, completed just a couple of years ago, sponsors many fun
activities for people of all ages. The weekly Saturday night outdoor concerts have been a popular event for everyone. At Christmas time the festive lighting ceremony of the Swiss Village, the weekend
following Thanksgiving, draws people from far and near.

World's Oldest Continuous Rodeo
The new rodeo arena on the south part of Payson is the home of several rodeos, two of which are PRCA events. Located just across the Beeline Highway from the rodeo grounds is the Mazatzal Casino operated by the
Tonto Apache Indians. These two localities can provide an entire day of entertainment all within walking distance.

Art and Drama
For the person who prefers to be indoors, the local drama group and local orchestra provide events of fine arts. The Payson Art League boasts membership of many artists whose work is known throughout Arizona and
the entire country.

The Payson airport, located in the north part of town, offers one of the favorite places for Arizona pilots to fly for Saturday breakfast. There is also a campground at the airport which can be used as a
stopover for the pilot on a longer trip.
In other words, Payson offers about any activity a person could want. And what can't be found in Payson can usually be found in the Phoenix metropolitan area,
just a short 90-minute right away.
